Hello everybody, hope you’re having an amazing day today. Today, I’m gonna show you how to make a distinctive dish, homemade pesto. It is one of my favorites food recipes. For mine, I will make it a bit tasty. This will be really delicious.

Homemade Pesto is one of the most popular of current trending foods in the world. It’s simple, it’s quick, it tastes yummy. It is appreciated by millions every day. Homemade Pesto is something which I’ve loved my whole life. They are nice and they look wonderful.

The classic basil pesto sauce made with pine nuts or walnuts, lots of fresh basil, and real Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese will add flavor to anything to combine it with, from pasta to pizza to spaghetti sauce. Basic pesto, made with basil, olive oil, pine nuts, and Parmesan cheese. This recipe differs from the classic preparation by the addition of parsley.

To begin with this recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can have homemade pesto using 10 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Homemade Pesto:

  1. Get 2 cup Fresh Basil Leaves
  2. Get 1 1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  3. Prepare 1 1/4 cup Grated Asiago Cheese
  4. Prepare 1 cup Pine Nuts
  5. Get 3 small Lemons
  6. Get 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
  7. Make ready 1 tbsp White Balsamic Vinegar
  8. Make ready 1/2 tsp Kosher Salt
  9. Prepare 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
  10. Make ready 1 dash White Pepper

I also cut up a baguette and topped it with the pesto. So refreshing and delicious on a hot summer day. Super simple and delicious pesto recipe! I made two batches ~ the first exactly a written and the second with all basil and a little less parmesan cheese as some of the other reviewers suggested.

Steps to make Homemade Pesto:

  1. In a dry non stick skillet, toast the pine nuts over medium-low heat until they are golden brown and give off a fragrant nutty smell. - - Note: Pine nuts can be expensive, the most economical source for them has been Sam's Club.
  2. Using a micro planar, remove the zest (just the yellow surface) from all 3 lemons and then juice all 3 lemons. Strain the juice to remove seeds and pulp.
  3. Add basil (firmly pack the basil into the measuring cup when portioning), pine nuts, garlic, juice (strained) and zest of the lemons, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, and white pepper to a food processor. - - Note: Minced garlic in a jar from your local grocery store works great and saves time. Using jarred garlic is preferred as it has less bite than fresh garlic.
  4. Process the ingredients until a paste is formed. - - Note: You may have to scrape the sides of the container occasionally to get an even paste like mixture.
  5. Using a micro planar, grate the Asiago cheese and add to the food processor. - - Note: Parmesan or Romano cheese work just as well as Asiago. The slightly higher moisture content of Asiago makes for a creamier end product with a smoother flavor.
  6. Process the ingredients until a paste is formed. - - Note: You may have to scrape the sides of the container occasionally to get an even paste like mixture.
  7. While food processor is running, add the olive oil. - - Note: you can add more or less olive oil as necessary to reach your desired consistency for the pesto.
  8. Serve and enjoy. This can be used on pasta, sandwiches, salads, or anything else you want.
  9. This recipe makes a large amount of pesto. Pesto can be frozen for later use. A ziplock bag or a nice cube tray work well for this.

This was a great way to use up an abundance of basil from my container garden. The recipe was very easy to make and was totally worth it for the absolutely delicious pesto sauce. It had a very fresh basil taste with a nice subtle hint of garlic and pine nuts. Pesto is a mouthful of bright summer — basil made more so. You can buy it in a jar or in the refrigerator section of your grocery story, but there is nothing better than making it yourself.
