Risotto is ready after the last cup of broth has been stirred in and rice has thickened. Heat the oil in a wide-based shallow saucepan. Add the onion and garlic and fry for a few minutes over a high heat. Stir in the rice to coat the grains. Add the arborio rice and a pinch of salt. Stir in the reserved asparagus and. Place rice, asparagus, mushrooms and then onions in the inner pot. Make sure all the rice is soaked in the broth. Place inner pot in the rice cooker.
