Soak the rice for half an hour. Add cumin seeds, cardamoms, cinnamon and peppercorns. When the seeds start spluttering, add chopped onions and fry. Moong Paneer is a popular North Indian dish made with Whole Green Gram / Pachai Payaru is mostly served as a side for Chapati / poori / roti / naan!

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
  2. Add onion and saute till golden brown.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute.
  4. Add tomatoes and saute till it turns mushy.
  5. Now add green chillies and all dry masala and saute for few minutes.
  6. Add sprouted green moong mix well and cover and cook for five minutes.
  7. After five minutes add four and half cup of water and bring it to boil.
  8. Wash the rice and add to the boiling water. Cook for two whistle.
  9. Biryani is ready to serve.
  10. For raita, in bowl whisk the curd. Now add grated carrots, chopped onion and chillies coriander leaves and salt. Mix well.
  11. Serve hot sprouted green moong Biryani with carrot raita.

Usually its either twice or thrice weekly i tend to make chapati for either lunch or dinner and had to come up with some kind of a gravy to go it and this is one of them.
