Preheat waffle iron according to maker's instructions. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. In a separate bowl, mix banana, buttermilk, rum, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Preheat a French-Belgian waffle iron over medium heat.
